June 12, 2026: Friday Medley

Happy Friday!

Flag Day during America’s Semiquincentennial Year

As we celebrate Flag Day on June 14, we take a moment to honor the history and meaning of the American flag, first adopted by the Continental Congress in 1777 as a symbol of unity, freedom, and shared ideals. Families across the country observe Flag Day by displaying flags, attending community events, and reflecting on the many people and traditions that have shaped our nation. This year feels especially meaningful as America begins celebrating its 250th birthday, marking a quarter millennium since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

Music has always been part of our national story, and patriotic favorites such as “America the Beautiful,” “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “This Land Is Your Land,” “America: My Country ‘Tis of Thee,” and “God Bless America” continue to bring generations together through singing, remembrance, and celebration. May this season inspire us all to appreciate our shared heritage and the joy that music brings to our communities.

As summer begins here in Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest, and surrounding areas of South Orange County, we encourage families to enjoy the many community events, parks, music concerts, and celebrations that make our cities such wonderful places to live and learn.
