Introductory & Enrollment Process Why & How
The process of scheduling an introductory music lesson, completing the About Me music student questionnaire, completing the My Availability for music lessons form, and enrolling in music lessons.
HOW TO GET STARTED
There are several ways to get started in music lessons at the Dennis Frayne Music Studios, Laguna Niguel School of Music, & Lake Forest School of Music:
Schedule an Introductory Music Lesson (for youth piano or guitar small group lessons).
Schedule an Ensemble Audition (for ensembles including choir, woodwinds, brass, strings, drum line, and rock band). At this time, schedule an ensemble audition by calling the office at (949) 844-9051.
Direct Enrollment (for all individual private lessons, adult students, advanced students, instruments other than piano or guitar, voice, music or video production, art, and Music and Piano “Mommy & Me” (“Parent & Me”) for ages 0-2).
INTRODUCTORY MUSIC LESSON
Introductory music lessons are an ideal way to get started for youth piano or guitar small group lessons. Why?
a) At your introductory music lesson, a qualified and experienced music teacher will provide you with hands-on, useful instruction at the piano or guitar, along with some other fun and useful musical skills. Beginning students will learn a song plus some fundamentals. More advanced students will receive helpful learning and coaching on new music and/or repertoire the student is already familiar with.
b) We will discuss your goals, needs, interests, level, ambitions and help you choose pacing and other options.
c) After your lesson, we will review your About Me questionnaire, your availability, and feedback from your introductory lesson music teacher, and help you choose the best possible learning environments, options, and time slots for your schedule.
d) All of this information will help us enroll you in the best possible lessons with the best teacher just for you!
Who must schedule an introductory lesson?
Youth piano and guitar music students interested in small group lessons or classes.
Who does not need to schedule an introductory lesson?
Adult students, advanced students, and all students who wish to enroll in private individual lessons, other instruments, voice, music or video production, or art should enroll directly or request an ensemble audition (choir, woodwinds, brass, strings, drumline, or rock band).
Music students, ages 0-2, interested in Music or Piano Mommy & Me.
Introductory music lessons are always on Saturdays or Sundays, because most small group lessons take place on Saturdays & Sundays!

“Dr. Dennis is very encouraging and patient. He also cares very much about his students being lifelong pianists so he makes sure that my son is enjoying what he is playing and regularly allows him to learn/play pieces he is interested in. In that same vein, Dr. Dennis is great at picking pieces that he knows my son will enjoy; my son will simultaneously be learning a Beethoven movement and a contemporary piece like Bohemian Rhapsody. We are very happy and grateful to have Dr. Dennis as our piano teacher!
