Teachers: Happy Tuesday!

Do Musical Ladder IN Your Lesson, WITH Your Student(s)!

If Musical Ladder feels like something extra to do outside your lesson times, please think differently! Musical Ladder is something you do IN your lesson, WITH your students. This is true for both private individual lessons and small group lessons.

Here is a strategy to use in your lessons, to stay up to date with Musical Ladder tests, and to keep your students engaged and enthusiastic about their Musical Ladder progress, levels, and awards:

(Note: these suggestions assume you know how to navigate the Musical Ladder portal. If you need assistance with this, please contact the office and/or Mr. Denny for support.)

  1. At the beginning of your lesson, or right before your lesson starts, make sure you get logged into the Musical Ladder portal. Make sure you can see your calendar and other details, and open up your students’ pages as needed. Make sure you are able to project the computer screen onto the large TV screen, or that the computer screen itself is visible to your student(s).

  2. Remind your student(s) how the Musical Ladder works, and what level they are currently on, how much time until their next level, etc. Use the flyers, handouts, and other visuals as needed.

  3. Open up the student’s window (+) so you can see their tests and completed levels.

  4. As you are showing the student and describing to them what you are doing, enthusiastically, you can Schedule/Add a test, and/or you can mark their test complete, depending on circumstances and needs. (Do this for each student as needed, even if you are in a small group lesson.)

  5. When you are all done, you can close the window and/or turn off the computer screen or TV, and move on to the next activity!

Scheduling tests and marking tests complete is super easy and only takes a minute! Please make this activity part of your lesson plan, so that you stay on top of your tests and levels, and so that you include your student in this activity, and spark their enthusiasm for climbing the Musical Ladder!

Have a magical Tuesday, a musical week, and enjoy happy, healthy and tension-free teaching and learning with your students.

Thank you,

Dennis Frayne
