Teachers: Happy Tuesday
Releasing Tension
An important part of our studio culture and teaching strategies involves healthy and tension-free teaching, learning, and music-making. Releasing tension is such an important goal we will discuss it again and again.
There are many ways to make progress in releasing tension. Here are two videos worth watching (or re-watching) as we all strive to find ways to help students – and ourselves – release tension. The first video is whole-body oriented. The second video is related to piano (and potentially other instruments). In our piano method we utilize the concept of “ghost hands” as a way to encourage “floppy” wrists and hands.
Piano Posture and Tension-Free Technique
It can be a good strategy to review and practice releasing tension in every lesson, and if feasible, all week long!

Have a magical Tuesday, a musical week, and enjoy happy, healthy and tension-free teaching and learning with your students.
