Teachers and Staff: Happy Saturday!

We hope everyone is having a joyful and restful holiday season. Remember that our studio off week runs from 12/22/25 through 1/2/26. Lessons start up again on Saturday, 1/3/26. We also have Forum on that Saturday and Sunday 1/3 and 1/4.

Recital Preparation - Thank You!

Thank you again, teachers, who helped your students learn Christmas and holiday music and prepare for their recital performances. It has been a joy to watch our students perform! We completed the final two recitals on Monday, December 22nd.

Recitals in Spring, 2026

We have several recital opportunities in the Spring of 2026. All students should prepare for the Spring Quarter recital, which will be right before Easter on Saturday & Sunday, March 28 & 29. We encourage you to help students prepare for this recital and learn some music related to Easter and Springtime. For many of our students, this time of year includes Nowruz, the Persian New Year and also the Vernal (Spring) Equinox.

We will also host a Themed Recital around St. Patrick’s Day, on Friday, March 13. The theme of this recital is “Ireland and Latin America.” Our goal for this recital is that each participating student will perform a set that juxtaposes Irish and Latin American music.

Our Destination Recital will take place on Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend, on May 9. For this recital we are heading to Ventura, CA.

We also offer the opportunity to join our Concert Performance Team (CPT) which performs monthly at various retirement communities throughout South Orange County. Eligible students should be encouraged to participate.

And of course we also offer Forum, the first full Friday, Saturday, & Sunday of each month, which provides valuable opportunities to practice performing and receive one-on-one coaching, in a more casual setting with a friendly and encouraging audience.

Finally, we encourage you to encourage students to prepare a solo recital for family and friends in their homes. We offer a guide for how to do this, which you and they can use as a template.

Preparing, Producing, Performing, and Preserving a Solo Recital for Family & Friends

In some cases, we will work with advanced student musicians capable of performing 30-50 minutes of music to put on their own public solo, duo, or small ensemble recital.

Q: What are the differences between the various studio recital types?

A: Here are brief descriptions of each:

Quarterly Studio Recitals - these recitals are offered once per quarter, every quarter, and are open to all students and teachers. They generally take place around seasons or holidays: Winter (Christmas & Holidays), Spring (Easter & Springtime), Summer (Independence Day/4th of July), Fall (Halloween & Harvest).

Themed Recitals - these recitals are offered from time to time, vary each year, and are open to all students and teachers with several requisites: students must perform some music according to the theme, must perform all music from memory, and must receive approval from their teacher, ensuring they are ready and meet the requisites.

Destination Recitals - these recitals are offered once per year, are paid activities, involve travel to another location, and are open to all students and teachers with the only requisite being all music to be performed must be memorized. Last year we took a bus to the San Diego area, and this year we will be taking a train to the Ventura area. In the future we hope to go further away, upstate, across the country, and hopefully one day to Europe and other countries.

Concert Performance Team (CPT) - our studio CPT performs in special monthly concerts for appreciative audiences at different locations and venues, such as retirement communities, throughout Orange County. Some students earn community service hours & credits for giving their gift of music to others! Students must meet certain eligibility requirements and make annual commitments in order to participate.

Thank you, everyone, for all that you do!

Have a magical Saturday, a musical weekend, and a safe and healthy coming week, a Happy Holiday Season, and a Happy New Year!

Thank you,
